The Studiebarometeret survey is a national survey that examines the quality of higher vocational education from the students’ perspective. The questions in the survey cover topics such as learning activities, study environment and information.

Who may participate in the Studiebarometeret survey?
The following higher vocational education students may participate:
• Students who are enrolled in programmes of more than 30 credits, who have finished their first semester
• Students who are enrolled in programmes of exactly 30 credits
It does not matter whether you study full-time or part-time, or online or on campus. The deadline for responding is Wednesday 6 May at 23:59.

What does participating involve?
Participating involves filling out a questionnaire, which takes approximately 10 minutes. Participating is voluntary. Everyone who completes the questionnaire will be included in a raffle for 3 gift vouchers of NOK 5,000 and 10 gift vouchers of NOK 1,000.
Purpose
The student survey maps how students perceive the quality of their education. The survey is used by educational institutions, researchers, students, and authorities, and the results are published as average values at hkdir.no.
The survey is conducted by the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir) on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Research.
How did we obtain contact information?
We retrieved lists of registered students and background information (such as gender, age, admission qualifications, exam results, and citizenship) from the Database for Statistics on Higher Education (DBH), and contact information from the National Contact Register. Your national ID number was used to securely link the data.
In accordance with legal provisions, this is carried out as a task in the public interest (cf. GDPR Article 6(1)(e) and The Vocational Education Act § 42).
How is your data processed?
By filling out the survey, you consent to non-identifiable background data being linked to your answers and stored by HK-dir until 2036 and in Sikt’s research archive until 2041. Your contact information and national ID number will be deleted by no later than 1 November 2026 unless you consent to further linkage or follow-up at the end of the survey.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by sending a request to studiebarometeret_fagskole@hkdir.no.
Your rights
As long as you can be identified, you have the right to access the data we have stored about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to receive a copy of the data (data portability), and to file a complaint with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority or our Data Protection Officer. If you do not participate in the survey, all identifiable background data about you will be deleted by no later than 1 November 2026.
