After you have applied - higher education

How your case is processed and when you will receive a decision.

Recently edited : 31. October 2024

When will you receive the decision letter

We currently have a high volume of applications, so you should expect a longer processing time than usual. This applies to both the time it takes to register new applications and the processing time after your application has been set for review. The expected processing time is currently 6 - 8 months.

If the application is missing documentation

If we need additional documentation, you will receive an e-mail with information about the specific documents that are missing. Please log in to the application portal to upload the necessary documents. Read more about our documentation requirements for recognition of foreign higher education.

How to use the application portal

Subtitles available in other languages. You can change the text by clicking on settings.

Application results

You will be notified when we have processed the application and the decision letter is ready. We use a digital mailbox. If you want the decision letter to be sent there, you must create your own digital mailbox (difi.no). You will also find a copy of the decision letter in the applicant portal.

Do you have questions?

If you have questions about your application, you can send a message to the case officer when you are logged into the applicant portal. You can write a message when the status of the application has been set to “case is being processed”. Use the “Ask a question” function under “My messages”. You can also write a message to the case officer three weeks after you have received the decision letter.

Appealing a decision

You have a right to appeal within three weeks after you have received the decision. If you have questions about your decision or about how to appeal, you can send a message to your case officer in the applicant portal until the deadline for appeals expires. Read more about appeals.
