About QualifAI

The QualifAI project promotes the responsible and effective use of artificial intelligence (AI) in credential recognition across the ENIC-NARIC network. The aim is to make processes more efficient, improve quality, and align digital practices across Europe—supporting automatic recognition and better labour market outcomes.

Through surveys, feasibility studies, and hands-on testing in Norway, France, and the Netherlands, The project looks at both the opportunities and limitations of AI in education and credential recognition. Based on these insights, QualifAI develops practical guidelines and toolkits that recognition offices and related organisations can put into use, helping to build capacity, inform policy, and support sustainable adoption of AI.

Results are shared through reports, guidelines, and a dedicated conference, ensuring that knowledge, tools, and best practices are available to stakeholders across Europe.

Project objectives

The project explores how AI can be applied responsibly in the recognition of qualifications in the ENI-NARIC Network. By testing digital tools, addressing ethical and legal questions, and sharing practical guidance, the project aims to strengthen the network and support more efficient, accurate, and consistent recognition practices.

The goals of this project is to:

  1. Strengthen digital infrastructure
Explore how digital tools and infrastructure can be improved within the ENIC-NARIC network. Through testing and pilot activities, identify which approaches and practices best support the needs of recognition offices.
  2. Explore ethical, legal, and practical considerations
Identify and discuss key challenges arising from AI, and test possible solutions that ensure compliance with GDPR and other regulatory requirements.
  3. Support European policy frameworks
Provide evidence-based recommendations on how AI can be integrated into recognition, covering legal, ethical, and operational aspects. Findings will be shared through reports, guidelines, and recommendations.
  4. Disseminate knowledge and encourage responsible use of AI
Share findings and tools with stakeholders across Europe, focusing on building digital competence and promoting responsible AI use to improve efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in recognition processes.
