SAAR - Summer Academy for Artistic Research
The Summer Academy for Artistic Research (SAAR) is a cooperation between partner institutions in Finland, Sweden and Norway. SAAR provides a supportive setting where PhD students in artistic research can collaborate, present their on-going artistic research, and receive feedback from peers and experienced tutors from leading academic art institutions.
About the event
SAAR 2025 will take place in Kiruna, Sweden on 17-22 August. Kiruna is a city at the intersection of different ways of knowing, where the mine, urban infrastructure, natural and cultural landscapes, Saami-culture and traditions coexist and create tensions and conflicts, which further generate questions around sustainability, green transition, indigeneity and decoloniality .
The Nordic summer academy provides a supportive setting where PhD candidates and research fellows in artistic research from all fields collaborate, present their on-going artistic research and receive feedback from peers and experienced tutors from leading academic art institutions. The aim is to reflect the international diversity and scope of artistic research and to provide a stimulating intellectual environment.
